One Response to “How does making categories help my posts?”
Making categories helps other people find the posts they may be most interested in. A post can only be in one category. So, you would want to think of categories that completely divide your posts into separate groupings. Such as “Education” or “Personal Musings.” You wouldn’t want categories that overlap such as “Education” and “Educational Technology.”
Once you have placed a post in a category, it makes it easier for people to narrow down things to just the parts of your blog they may be interested in.
Another option is to create tags. Tags are more free-form. You can create any tags you want and assign as many tags to a post as you like.
I recommend that you do both if you plan to have very many posts at all. Take a look at my blog (grantsred300.wordpress.com) for an example of how I have set up categories and tags.
